2021.09.28 15:43 canadianspin Narrowed down to 4 options: 3 row SUV family friendly vehicle
It's time for me to upgrade from my Mazda3 to a larger vehicle to accommodate my growing family. We currently have a 1 year old (rear facing convertible car seat) and a large dog. We are hoping to have 1-2 more kids in the next 4-5 years and are hoping this vehicle will be able to accommodate but aren't totally opposed to getting something larger when a third is on the way. I'm not quite ready to be in full soccer mom mode yet and take the minivan plunge so we are looking at 3 row SUVs right now. After visiting a few dealerships, we have narrowed it down to these 4 options. I don't know very much about cars so any advice is appreciated!
1) 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander: 60,000kms, $22k. The smallest of the options but we are very tempted by the price. Would definitely need to upgrade in about 4 years though.
2) 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport: 45,000kms, $31k. Most luxurious but privately owned and haven't actually have a chance to drive this one yet but it seems like a great deal for a land rover.
3) 2017 Toyota Highlander: 70,000kms, $37k. Only slightly larger than the Outlander but seems more user friendly and was my favourite to drive. Is it worth the extra $$?
4) 2019 Volkswagen Atlas: 42,000kms, $38k. The largest option and had the most features but unsure if it's worth the extra $. We wouldn't need to upgrade with a 3rd baby though.

2021.09.28 15:43 Winter-Seat5248 Help with playing Animations and Music with 3.0 Avatars
Hello, I am just learning how to add music and dancing to Avatars, and I ran into a wall. Forgive the long post, but I think explaining how I think the process works, and having someone correct my thinking may be the best way to go. Also will help others who read this afterwords.
Previous posts show that tutorials made before March are no longer applicable, as you CANNOT play music AND Animations through the Action Layer. It MUST be separated now (Animations through Actions, Music through FX). I haven't seen any tutorials after this update, and it's really bothering me.
So here is what I figured out through trial and error, as well as copying other avatars, and the way that they did it.
- Parameters within the FX must be declared at the FX Parameters level. FX can play music, but cannot show animations.
- On the Toggle menu Parameters, you also declare the variable there as well. The linking aspect between the two is the Avatar itself. The Parameter Declared within the FX must match the Parameter within the Toggle menu. (I got stuck on this for a while, as it's not clearly explained)
Where I am getting stuck is how to play Animations AND music. I've created a toggle within the FX so that when the toggle is turned on, music plays, when the toggle is turned off, music stops playing.
I've tried repeating this within the Actions Layer, where if the Toggle is enabled for that specific action, the Avatar will start dancing.
basically, I visualize it like this:
FX (Variable A) = Off (default) <(when variable A is turned on, or off)> ON (Play music) Action(Variable A) = Any Action -> Turn on Variable A via Variable A -> Play Animation -> transition to proxy_Stand_Still -> Proxy Stand Still -> Exit
Menu -> Toggle Variable A on or off. (This should trigger BOTH
Any help would be appreciated, I'm stuck here, and really want to figure this out.

2021.09.28 15:43 skratch_R Castile strategy seminar
So the other day there was a very interesting conversation on this post about Castile strats. I find Castile to be the most interesting country to play in EU4, perhaps influenced by me being in fact castilian. There are so many different routes to take, and so many things going on simultaneously in castilian early game. That is why I want to make this post to offer my own castile strategies, and to hear about everyone else's.
- Early european politics
Many people like to ally Austria as soon as the game starts. I find this useless beyond getting lucky and having the chance to help Austria in a defensive war against the french along with the whole HRE, getting the chance to mess up France early on. Instead, I find it much more useful to either ally France itself or to ally Burgundy. The aim is to get the inheritance with as much territory as possible, so it is in your interest to disincentivize France or Austria attacking Burgundy. I also find it useless to ally England, as they are in no way a threat to France in the early game and you will have to fight them eventually when you take over Portugal. They cant do any real harm to you if you stay vigilant for amphibious landings.
If you do intend to have a say in the HRE, the classic strategy of noCB East Frisia to get to border the empire is viable as well. From here you can jump in whenever the emperor is weak and vassalize some electors to become emperor.
Also be friends with the pope so you can use him for excommunications (France, italian victims of your expansion and Provence being good targets) and the buffs he grants.
- The peninsula
Pretty straightforward. Do not ally aragon, as it is a waste of a diplo slot. If you ally portugal, do not royal marry them as you want to backstab them as soon as possible. Dont be too fast about Granada: they will always ally a north african country and that is a good thing. All you need to do is rush vassalizing or conquering Navarra. I find both options good, but conquering them risks a war with Aragon which is winnable, but it can drain your scarce manpower early on.
Before I go on big campaigns I always wait for the aragonese PU (and hope for them to keep naples in their event). You can of course speed this up by the universal move of disinheriting Enrique and his shitty 0 0 0 stats, and then hoping for a female heir as soon as possible.
Once Aragon is on your side you have a fleet more than big enough to beat any combination of two north african countries (alliances of three are rare), and probably to beat Portugal's navy before their ally england shows up. I like to take Ceuta from Portugal before attacking Granada, because it gives me a foothold in Africa to avoid the sticky situation caused by crossing a strait. It also gives you a fort that the enemy will try to siege down, and where you can engage them in a strait crossing battle in which they have the penalty. This war against Portugal also may allow you to grab Madeira for some extra colonial range (Azores and Cape Verde are usually terra incognita).
Once you have Ceuta, you can attack Granada and its north african allies. The ideal setup is Tunis and Morocco. You can defeat Granada almost instantly, cross an army into Ceuta whenever it is sieged to destroy Morocco's military, and Aragon will probably deal with Tunis. I like to full annex Granada in this war, to feed tunisian provinces to Aragon and to release a vassal in north Africa (preferably from a christian converted Ceuta) to avoid the constant religious and separatist rebels and aid in conversion.
Beyond this first war you want to continue inching through the Maghreb and taking all their coastal provinces, feeding your vassals. There are often countries who will want to become your vassal without a war even being fought. There is nothing to fear from a north african coalition, as you control the strait and the fort in Ceuta is a great killing ground.
- The Mediterranean
Once you have Aragon you have a great foothold in the Med, especially if you also got Naples through sheer luck. I suggest from the beginning either allying or attacking Byzantium. Otto can become a nuisance, but his fleet isnt big enough to faced a combined castilian-aragonese fleet in the early game. If you can keep Constantinople out of his hands, you have little to fear from that area. If you have Naples, its as easy as selecting one of the greek provinces as essential, and Naples will fabricate a claim for you. If not, you may need a bit of expanding into naples first, with your mission claims.
Italy is meant to be taken using these claims. Another reason not to ally Austria is that you may end up fighting them over italy at some point. Make sure to RM Milan to get their succession event. A milanese PU is a great thing to have, especially if you can connect them to the sea somehow. The provinces here are high dev, so one has to beware AE. They however should not be conquered directly, but fed to Aragon as much as possible.
Big objectives here are of course Genoa and Venice, but these provinces require big wars and big navies to be won. Genoa especially is important if you cant create a fake end node in Valencia for some reason.
- When to integrate Aragon
Late. Spanish ideas are objectively better than castilian ones, but they do have a few drawbacks. Colonization will be discussed later. First, castile has much better missionaries, which will be useful for helping those north african vassals convert their lands so you can later integrate them. Second, Aragon is a free bank for high dev provinces. There is a cap of course of (I think) 35 provinces. If you go over that, you cant integrate them. You should go up to that cap giving them the best provinces in italy and Tunis (because there is no vassal to release in Tunis). These are later integrated for absolutely free. Aragon is also useful for its large amounts of troops and ships which you can use as cannon fodder. Also dont forget that vassals are a lifesaver when you are distracted somehow and not noticing an enemy stack somewhere. Finally, as some users said in the previous thread, gov capacity is a thing and two countries have more capacity than one.
Castile has a slightly better colonization idea set than Spain. It is true that it is only achieved when getting your third idea group maxed out (around 1520) and that by that point you are probably already Spain, but I recommend waiting. The colonisation game is one of speed in the early game. By rushing those ideas and diplo tech, you can get much much better at colonising than Portugal or England, and secure most of the american coast before they even get there.
Now, there is a cheeky way to use portugal to your own advantage, at the threat of border gore. A correct castilian game always involves a portuguese PU after you get Aragon. You are meant to do this AFTER they have exploration and/or expansion ideas. Two countries colonise faster than one, especially if they are the colony experts that are Portugal and Castile. You want to keep an eye on the provinces Portugal can and cannot colonise, and try to funnel him into where you want him. In the PU war you can take all his islands and overseas provinces so you keep him slower than you (he will have to start in the caribbean, perhaps in Cuba because you already got Hispaniola, which is ideal). You want each colonial region to be shared between you and portugal. Keep an eye on the relations penalties of the Tordesillas treaties, of course. The optimal setup is for each colonial region to have two colonies, one yours and one portuguese, of at least 10 provinces each. That means that when you integrate Portugal you get two colonies for the price of one, both half as powerful as they could be (less liberty desire), both giving you an extra merchant, both carrying out their own colonisation with their own colonists and both starting their own expansion wars. This can cause bordergore sometimes, but some of it might be fixed by events popping up every now and then.
Of course, you are meant to follow the basics of colonisation: start with high dev provinces with trading centers, do not put colonies into a trade company until they turn into full cities so they get your religion, etc. Make sure to rush the coasts first and keep all empty colonies just beyond the colonial range of France and England. Dont forget to actually develop your colonies, and not just leave them be. A strong Caribbean colony can have a big fleet which can keep America secure while yours fights in Europe.
America is a wide game, but the East Indies is a long game. There are two routes: through America and through Africa. The american route is probably faster and more aligned with your other objectives, but trade mechanics make the African one better. Before you form Spain and lose the superior colonization, make sure you made a route around Africa, getting Ivory Coast, Douala and Cape. These are the main trade ports along the african coast, and allow you to have the upper hand in steering the spice trade to Sevilla instead of the English Channel. If you have a nice route set up all the way from Indonesia, you get an extra merchant. it is of course better to conquer the whole coast, but the essentials are these provinces. As much of the african coast is owned by other tags, you can just conquer it. There is plenty of gold and ivory here, and getting the gold early on allows you to end the bullion famine, which gives you nice bonuses. Dont forget to develop these provinces as well, especially the gold mines, and to build plenty of forts, as your armies will usually be elsewhere.
Once you reach Indonesia and grab the most important spice islands (Makassar and Ternate) you can take it easy and form Spain properly. Dont forget to keep a sizeable fleet here however, as Borneo and others are strong.
- Later game
Once you have unified Spain, own the new world, have a trade route to Indonesia, have naval supremacy over the Mediterranean from Gibraltar to Constantinople, own Italy and hopefully got Burgundy, its time to play the long game. Your objectives should be getting full control over the english channel end node, perhaps by grabbing England or simply by sheer force of light ships and development in your dutch provinces. Genoa and Venice are also important, although your trade strategy should diminish Venice's importance dramatically. You want to get a foothold in China as well, through one of the usual trade ports. Be vigilant for a Mingsplosion. You can become emperor of the HRE through force vassalising at least 4 electors. If you get an opportunity to PU or somehow knock Austria out of the elections, do it. A weak emperor like thuringia is great for vassalising those electors. Remember to keep a strong navy, as your force limit probably doesnt allow for large enough stacks to hold down all the territories you own without transporting them around. Indonesian expansion especially needs a strong fleet. Remember to have the first circumnavigation and to discover Japan, both for extra prestige. The dutch revolt can be avoided through culture conversion.
As for america, you can tolerate a bit of foreign penetration. Enemy colonies can be attacked by your own colonies without the metropoli getting involved, which is why if England or France get a province you should allow them to get up to 5 so the colonial nation can be formed and later attacked. If not, remember to use the "concede colonial region" peace deal option, which prevents them from further colonisation for a time. The other option is to just allow them to make their colonies if you expect to PU, vassalize or conquer the overlord in the short term. This can be useful with countries that sometimes like to try colonising, like Scotland.
That is all I know about playing Castile. Of course, I left out stuff like which provinces to develop and such because those are normal EU4 gameplay. I prefer to discuss the wider strategies that should be followed, and let people figure out the details. What did I leave out? Does someone have any better ideas on how to play Castile?

Space between nibs and display line
Last week i bought a Boox Note air with Doodroo screen protector, default pen. I know that extra gap exists for the backlight, but it is too annoying for me. =(((
I can get used to this if the space has a rule, but no. That space has a different length and different direction, depending on the position of the pen (You can see the picture). I tried changing to Samsung PenS, it's still the same.
I can't control this when i'm using rotation mode. My pen will obscure the line (video). My main use is to take notes in pdf, landscape but I can't place the pen exactly where i want.
Is this problem a technical fault of my device? Do you have any tip for me?
Thanks a lot

2021.09.28 15:43 Clairedukie Strains vs symptoms
Trying to figure out which strains cause what symptoms/leave what damage..
Maybe it’s just complete Russian roulette of what symptoms you’ll get or maybe there’s a pattern.
If you’re also interested could u pls comment what strain(s) you had/have and what symptoms you had/have while positive AND after being negative
I had Mycoplasma Hominis & Ureaplasma Parvum.
Was treated about 2 weeks after being infected and have been negative for 11months.
My symptoms started as strictly vaginal-insane stinging, itching, vulva pain.
After many months of testing negative, I got rectal sting/itch, bladder, urethra, general pelvic pain, and urethra hypermobility/urethracele
